Malaysia Coffee Fest 2019 #MYCoffeeFest with #Roastedly

Ever since I worked part-time with Starbucks when its first Penang branch opened up at Gurney drive, my love for coffee began.  I love how it tastes. I love how it feels going down.  I love the whole ritual around drinking coffee, whether brewing it myself or a nice hot cup with a cigarette and a friend to catch up with.  And I love how it feels after I drink it.

Back then no one knew what Starbuck actually was and they were going for the famous name for coffee even without any knowledge of what they actually want. I was a barista and people were coming in droves and they were asking "Can I have a Starbuck?". "What type of drink do you want, sir?" "I want a Starbucks". This would lead me to educate them on the various kind of drinks sold by Starbucks.

100 local and international brands from 35 exhibitors took part in Malaysia Coffee Fest. At this  Coffee Fest I was excited to see Roastedly which I had only read about. Created in 2018, Roastedly ® is a brand which promises to supply clients with quality, prices and comfort of excellent coffee from across the globe. Roastedly is the brainchild of the founder and CEO Mr. Welson Ang.

He told me of the story of how he developed his love for quality coffee when his wife had to pack him coffee when he was travelling. Welson has effectively developed an "ideal" way of packaging and sealing coffee after a long period of work and growth, a myriad of trials and errors. The next step was practically to enforce it. This brought Roastedly huge success as the quality is preserved yet it is easier and faster to brew. See, I told you I'm a coffee lover.

I bought myself a pack of Ethiopia BOJI Kelloo Semi-Shade #18 from Roastedly. The arabica tree originated across the Red Sea in western Yemen, where individuals still harvest the wild berries in high-flyers, coffee was initially established as a commercial crop in Ethiopia. Ethiopia is now one of the most diverse and unique coffees in the world, and at least one, Yirgacheffe, belongs to the finest.

All African and Arabic coffee contains wine and fruit tone acidity, but Ethiopia has a wide variety of different differences in this area. These changes are partially determined by the technique of processing. Ethiopian coffee divides well into dry method processed coffee (beans are dried inside a plant) and coffee processed by an advanced and moist technique of large scale, where the fruit is taken off the bovines instantly in a number of complicated activities before the bovine beans are washed. In general, Ethiopian coffees are best known for their complexity with a pungent, winey quality and a distinct wildness in their acidity and I have an affinity for it.

Malaysia’s very own national and international coffee champion, Regine Wai who was the 1st Runner up in the 2018 World Brewers Cup Championship was present to share tips and pointers on brewing coffee. The World Brawers Cup competition emphasizes the skills of manual brewing and service of filter coffee. Two coffee service services are provided during the first round by rivals-a mandatory service and an open service. Competitors prepare three drinks using whole bean coffee, supplied by the contest, for the mandatory service. Competitors may make use of any whole bean coffee from their selection for open service and must also attend a lecture to their drink preparing. In the final round of only an open service, the six candidates who are the highest in the first round will continue to compete. The World Brewers Cup Champion is appointed one of those competitors from the final round.

The festival will be provided with five exclusive coffee from Malaysia's top roasters as a unique edition, and the inventory will last. The Roastedly ® coffee brand, which provides quality coffee from across the globe to its clients, without compromises on quality, cost and comfort, includes the following five distinctive coffees from the next nations and top local coffee roasters. The specially designed coffee set includes:

1.    Ethiopia BOJI Kelloo Semi-Shade #18 – roasted by Beans Depot
