Juz 5 Al Quran

So unless I finish reading Juz 5, my whole batch won't finish the khatam of the Quran for 2020. Maybe reading is not enough so I up the challenge to write what I learned from reading the Juz 5.

Juz 5 is a part of the 30 juz that is written in the Holy Qur'an. This Juz begins with the word وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ in surah An-Nisa verse 24 and ends in verse 147.

There are 124 verses in Juz 5. The verses of this section were largely revealed in the early years after the migration to Madinah, most likely during years 3-5 H. Much of this section relates directly to the Muslim community's defeat at the Battle of Uhud, including sections about orphans and the distribution of inheritance which specifically date to that time.

Muslim Woman

The beginning of the fifth juz discusses the laws relating to marriage. Protocols for divorce are also explained, including a series of steps which ensure the rights of both husband and wife. Allah also states that a wife can be punished if she is disobedient and uncontrollable (nusyuz). However, it is a mistake and a sin to intentionally find a wife's fault on the grounds that she can be punished. In the event of a marital dispute between the couple and they are unable to make amends, a judge shall be appointed to resolve the matter.

This juz focuses on women's rights. It changes the way men accept women and changes what they have brought about 1400 years ago when women were seen as commodities, abused, and in high society.

This Juz clearly states that women should be honored in the lives of the people and should not be taken advantage of.

Allah has given the threat to anyone who kills a person intentionally and warns to be careful in killing someone in battle. Allah decreed the Qasar Prayer and the Prayer of Khauf Prayer. Moreover, Allah also declares that those who are blameless and ungrateful will suffer the torment in the hereafter.

Regarding prayer, God prohibits performing prayers in a drunken state. In the absence of water for ablution and bathing, one can cleanse themselves with earth to perform the prayer.

Quran Restrain From Fighting

A major theme of this section is the unity of the Muslim community. Allah encourages the believers to engage in commerce with each other "by mutual good-will" (4:29) and warns Muslims not to covet things that belong to another person (4:32).

Above all, Muslims are called upon to be fair and to stand up for justice. "Oh, you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor, for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you swerve, and if you distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do" (4:135).

The Juz ends with a verse explaining that religion is not merely decoration and fantasy but religion is something that is deeply embedded in the heart and needs to be proven by deeds.
