Stop The Period Checks!

Former ministers Rafidah Aziz and Azalina Othman Said have expressed shock and anger at reports stating period spot checks are a common practice, particularly in boarding schools.

"That is totally disgusting and a violation of a person's privacy. No religion gives such permission.

"The Education Ministry must act to put a stop to this nonsense and lay out clear ground rules on how schools including boarding schools treat students," Rafidah told Malaysiakini.

This story appeared about period checks in Malaysiakini last week. I have to agree, period checks should not be carried out on students, no reason can ever be justified for this disgusting method. It's offensive by any race, religion or creed. Period.

Who was the teacher or more accurately, the Ustazah who did this? Which religious school did this?

Experts, political leaders, and activists have spoken up on the issue while the supposedly perpertrator had not been brought to justice.

Everyone was angry, the nation was on fire with this piece of news and the hunt went on to find the despicable ustazah that did the deed.

Former deputy education minister Teo Nie Ching demanded that Education Minister Radzi Md Jidin and his deputies take action to address reports that period-shaming is a common practice, particularly in boarding schools.

People were so angry that in 2021, when the nation is facing a pandemic amid a political emergency that is due to last until August, resulting in political anxiety and tensions of a dwindling economy and a seemingly weak government that is not delivering, this kind of thing is still happening.

I asked around and all said to me it didn't happen to them when they were schooling, and I haven't heard of this happening, to be honest, so it was quite a mystery to me. Why would anyone put their hands in someone's private area to risk their hands to touch the dirty blood only to verify that the student is having a period? This isn't an Islamic practice nor was it Malay culture yet it was being done.

Even the Minister of Education were perplexed and asked where did this happen so he can find out.

Now, on what basis did the anger from period checks that happened came about? Are these Ministers so incompetent that they can't find the evil person that did such a heinous crime to an innocent student on her menses?

Shouldn't the girl be protected during those testing times instead of being ruffled like an object devoid of feelings? This is crazy!

As I searched for the answer , another news story came out.

The children’s commissioner of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia asked those who experienced this come forward and report to her, as she knows not of where or who did this.

Days passed and until today, as this is being written, not a single person came or told where the crime took place or more importantly, who did it. I went to scour social media for an answer and I believe it must be from Twitter, the homeground of the woke and militant liberals,  guardians of political correctness in the world.

Apparently it started from this Twitter account with pig's nose emojis and she based that from

here :

So it was from a TikTok account : https://t.co/bXzohJhoB

Yet, it clearly stated on the Tiktok video "For legal reasons, this did not happen to me", after getting clout of 32.5k Likes on TikTok.

All that for something that didn't happen? All the noise, the anger, the social media debates, the finger pointing, the search for who did it and now it came out as something that didn't even happen of TikTok?

Of course, comedians, racist an bigoted ones like the one below quickly took to their advantage and it was retweeted more than two thousand times.

Now, this DIDN'T HAPPEN. There was no culture of period checks. Ustazahs are religious teachers and even if there are a few bad apple, most are very hardworking passionate ones. Some, the ones that I know, are willing to give more than whatever paltry sums they got from their salary.

And it's really sad to know that so many people can just assume it's a cultural thing or even a religious thing. Is that what everyone really thinks of an ustazah and the Malay Muslim culture?

Are Malays really so despicable that an idea as filthy as that can just be imagined by so many people to be existing and thought to be a "common practice"? This just condescending beyond words.

And the ideas came from people who often allege the racism that they counter everyday are so taxing that some had to fly to the United States and become mayors because there are no Opportunities here in Malaysia because it was so toxic with bigotry and discrimination.

But i am not mincing my words here. This is clearly a reaction that had no real origins that no one even bothered to check. And the ex Deputy Minister, Teo Ni Cheng, was even "disappointed" to not find the culprit.

She really thought it was rampant and she wanted to punish the person so hard that not finding it became a disappointment because she can not make her imagination of a cruel and callous culture of the Malay Muslim into reality to be proved to the world.

And this is exactly what Pakatan Harapan win in 2018 meant for many non Malays. Many somehow felt that they can finally let go of the pretentious "muhibbah" spirit that have been the glue between communities for so long. If this was carried the other way round, the noise would have been so loud that CNN or Reuters would have to carry a separate one hour special to feature the racism of the Malay Muslims in Malaysia.

Well, I wonder how being racist can solve racism but I don't have the answer. I wrote this even so I can let go of this issue. I am not a racist, just like everyone else.
